Mr. Waggoner
Director of Bands
Mr. Waggoner is in his seventh year of teaching, and his first year as Director of Bands at Chaparral High School in Parker, CO.
Mr. Waggoner’s duties at Chaparral High School include Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Winter Percussion, Winter Guard, Pep Band, Pit Orchestra, Piano Class, Music Theory, and Music Appreciation. The bands annually perform at festivals around Colorado, and consistently receive superior or excellent ratings.
Mr. Waggoner went to the University of Northern Colorado where he earned Bachelors degrees in Music Education. While at UNC, he studied percussion under professor Gray Barrier, Dr. Richard Mayne and Dr. Ken Singleton. Mr. Waggoner performed with the Concert Band, Symphony Band, Wind Ensemble, Orchestra, and the Pride of the Rockies Marching Band, where he was Drum Captain for 2 years.
Mr. Waggoner marched in drum and bugle corps for two years. He spent two summers as a front ensemble member with the Blue Knights, based out of Denver. Additionally, Mr. Waggoner “aged out” of the pageantry arts as a member of Rise Percussion, performing on the marching snare drum.
Mr. Waggoner is a member of the National Association of Music Educators (NAfME) and Colorado Bandmasters Association (CBA). Outside of school, Mr. Waggoner greatly enjoys spending time with his family through watching sports and traveling. He is a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Liverpool Football Club. Coffee and anime are Mr. Waggoner’s favorite things in the world, and can often be found enjoying music from popular anime or attempting to write anime inspired music. Mr. Waggoner keeps up with his musicianship by playing in Pan Generations, a steel pan band lead by Don Prorak and taking lessons on Jazz Drumset.
